Day 2 of London Fashion Week

The day starts with a buzz around it because we know we have Pam showing with us tonight and we have our big On|Off Party Feet party where Soul2Soul are playing. Remember the song back to life, back to reality, well it’s them and their back. Apparently it has been the biggest rigmarole to get them as they haven’t performed together for like 20 years! The lead singer had to fly in from New York just for the party.
Our first show was a presentation from Jasper Garvida. A presentation meant that the show wasn’t on the catwalk, it was just basically a moving exhibition. Had a big chat with my boss afterwards and we both agreed that if Garvida kept a sense of focus with his collections they would be so much stronger. He lacked focus in his collection last season too. All the beginning outfits in his collection were so different and dis-conjoined from the outfits at the end. The whole presentation lacked continuity. I found the beginning dresses very predictable and quite boring. I’m not really a fan of a bias cut dress. The end pieces were beautiful though. They had structure and were really modern. Loved the colours and the over the top ruffles. His work just seems like he tries a little too hard. Didn’t take too many photos of the beginning pieces at all, but you can see what I mean with the red dress compared to the end patchwork coloured dresses.
Was able to jump out for a few minutes to take some street style snaps today. There’s always this real pride for British fashion during fashion week and I thought there are some really great examples of British style. There are many who are really polished with little bow ties rocking the almost teddy boy look. Loved the little couple I found outside the venue sitting on the wall. Each of their individual styles complimented each other so much.
Caught a bit of the rehearsal for Ramon Gurillo and Christ models are so tall! I went backstage and caught some of the rehearsal and I love the snap I took of the stylist doing some alterations. You can see the height difference is pretty extreme. I actually really enjoyed the show. It’s not really my aesthetic but I just thought it was a really wearable collection. Especially looking at it from an Aussie point of view, I thought the clothes would suit an Australian lifestyle. I can imagine Lara Bingle wearing the see through crochet tops over bikinis beside her pool.
The preparation for the party started early and as soon as Ramon finished we were out and about setting up. The dilemma was that while we were getting everything ready for the party Pam’s show was on. Pam’s show was underneath the venue in the car park. So 80s and old school fashion. In my desperation to get in it I sneaked away and decided that if I got caught I would tell my boss that I was with our in-house photographer letting him know who the famous important people were to photograph when they got let in by security and Pam’s PR people. Oh Yeh! Our photographer David told me he would totally back me up on it in case I got caught. I managed to get a quick snap of very famous 80s It boy and jeweller/stylist Judy Blame. He was wearing the most ridiculous hat and I watched him during the show and he actually wore it like that the whole way through. It was beyond me as to how he saw anything! Peaches Geldoff was quite possibly the rudest celebrity I’ve ever seen. We asked politely if we could take her photo and she just stuck her finger up and walked away. I was just like, Oh my God, like you don’t want to get photographed! So anyway, the show was unbelievable. I have photos and a video from my dodgy little phone. Some models you may recognise are Anouck Lepore, Daisy Lowe, Liberty Ross and Alice Dellal. The front row was so good. We had Roisin Murphy, Boy George, James Brown (Kate Moss’ hairdresser), Steven Jones (One of the world’s most famous milliners), Peaches Geldoff and Judy Blame to name a few on our front row Love the music!
So straight after the show, I ran back up to the venue quick smart so as not to get in trouble to help with the set up of the party. Got upstairs and it was manic. One of the sponsorship clients was giving everyone a real hard time as she wasn't happy that there wasn't enough branding so literally every dresser, helper and worker from the office were helping our in house graphic designer peel off the branding vinyl’s. So frustrating! So stressful. Anyway, the party was amazing. I don’t have any photos of the night but these are from the official On Off photographer. We were sponsored by Jalouse and had free drinks all night. It got to the point where Lee and Chris (my bosses) just told everyone to let their hair down, grab a drink and have fun with everyone else! Soul2Soul were amazing! All the amazing front row guests were at the party too. Managed to get in a little dance with the great Mr Boy Goerge! The team ended up going to the Jalouse bar in central London after the party at 12 and were given a table and free drinks all night. Jalouse is a very famous bar that is host to many parties of celebrities and is one of ‘the places to be’ in London if you’re rich and famous. The night was a long and event filled one. Work the next day was going to be difficult...for all the team! Here's the daily round up!
