Day 3 of London Fashion Week

We started today late as you could probably understand. Got some great street style snaps today. I have seen the girl with the white hair a couple of times this week and she has always looked fierce. The first show of the day was Julian J Smith. I must say, so far, with the exception of Pam Hogg, this has been my favourite show. The show had the same vibe as Emilio De La Mareno’s show from last season which was also my favourite. The little headpieces were great and I think I judge a good show by its continuity and this show totally flowed. I could totally see myself wearing any one of the pieces. The colours were fabulous and are a perfect modern take on spring/summer wear.
The next show for the day was Falguni & Shane Peacock. This label is from India and is known for their fabulously embellished gowns. It was a nice collection but wasn’t really my style. I guess they would be great pieces for celebrities going to summer premieres etc. The ostrich feathers were beautiful. It was a bit more of a modern collection to what the designers usually present. Stand out pieces were some of the prints and definitely the block colour pink high waist pants.
And then there was Orschel-Read. I’d seen good shows all week and then I saw Orschel-Read. It was strange and odd to say the least. But not in a strange/odd Alexander McQueen way! There had been buzz from a couple of the team who had seen the rehearsal that it was quite laughable. The show was opened with a woman spluttering and spitting into a microphone and coughing. This continued throughout the show with the addition of a couple of bangs on a Chinese drum. The models were terrible. Half of them hadn’t even been signed to a label. It was as though the designer was trying to be really out there but trying WAY too hard. Some of the men’s harem style pants were great. It wasn’t so much that the clothes were terrible because some of the collection was quite good had it been styled simpler, it was that the idea and aesthetic of the show was just too much. The hair jacket has been done and was totally predictable from a collection that was trying to break barriers that have already been broken.
Today ended early, thank God. So tired and luckily only have 1 show tomorrow to work on. Am going to check out the exhibition tomorrow and see what’s happening.
Here's the daily round up.
