Alfred Hitchcock: A Retrospective opens just in time for Halloween this month at the Gallery of Modern Art.

The retrospective presents some of Hitchcock’s TV shows and 57 of his films to be shown every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

On Sunday October 30 get into the Halloween spirit by catching any of the three films showing: Downhill, Shadow of a Doubt and Rebecca.

“I tried to embody the dream in the reality, in solid, unblurred images,” said Hitchcock in 1927 which asked about Downhill.

Amanda Slack-Smith, Australian Cinémathèque Assistant Curator, spoke of her pick of Hitchcock films for Halloween.

“I don’t think you could go past Psycho 1960 or Frenzy 1972. Both play on our deepest fears that we are most vulnerable when things and people appear harmless.”

Every Sunday a silent movie will be enhanced by jazz band, The Quadratic Contingency accompaniment.

Honky Kong jazz fusion band will also accompany the Hitchcock films and can be found at the Lounge performing Friday nights.

Films are shown every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and ticket prices are $9 for adults, and $7 for concession.

Alfred Hitchcock: A Retrospective is open now and finishes on the 27th of November.
