Role in the magazine:
Co-Editor

What does your job in FROCK involve?
Basically to oversee the entire magazine, to set a clear tone and vision and make sure that all the material fits in with the theme. To co-ordinate all team members and all content, to allocate the material onto designated pages of the magazine and website. I have also assisted with layout, advertising and sub-editing. Pretty much anything to help get the issue to its highest possible quality.

What’s the easiest and hardest part of your job?
Easiest I think would be being passionate about the project and believing in the possibilities. Hardest has been to get everything to fit in together, also gaining respect!

Define FASHION in your own words?
I believe that fashion isn’t a thing, but a way of life. It is a conscious decision to be aware of how, when and what people wear. It is the way we represent ourselves, in line or in rebellion to the boundaries given to us in front of the outside world.

If you are a fashion item, what would you be and why?
A scarf… just basically because they are great! And they have the ability to add a little something to an outfit

Five things you need to know about me:
1. I am loud and talk a lot
2. I believe in hope above all else
3. I am fascinated by words, thoughts and feelings
4. I am a distant dreamer, but at the same time an intense realist
5. I am a Gemini – and this explains all the above!

What are your greatest fashion inspirations?
I don’t really have anything that ultimately inspires me. I guess just things that I like in life, from either shops, magazines, celebrity culture, other people… I love pretty things – I am a big girl when it comes to fashion!

Describe the Maddi Style?
I think I alternate between different styles… I love pretty, girly things… you will never catch me wearing pants or a pair of jeans and I pretty much wear a dress 90% of the time.

Would you rather be a small fish in a big pond or a big fish in a small pond? Why?
Both. A big fish because I always want to experience everything… but a bigger pond means more to see!

What’s the most fearless thing you’ve ever done?
I was a competitive cheerleader in the UK and twist cradles were pretty fearless… a pair of feet spinning and falling towards your head is slightly insane. To be honest I am not a very ‘fearless’ person… I went across the Giants Causeway, which is a 30-metre rope bridge between two cliff faces in Ireland…?

What’s the theme song of your life and why?
The Scientist – Natasha Bedingfield (cover of cold play). Due to my need for change and my thoughtful nature, I always want to redo things and reply parts of my life. “Lets go back to the start”

What actor/actress would play you in a movie about your life and why?
Taylor Swift, because she is blonde, slightly awkward and an eternal dreamer.
If you could take a trip anywhere for 30 days with money not being a
consideration, where would you go and what would you do?
I would probably spend 30 days pretending I’m a local on the Greek Islands! Or if that failed then the Maldives, Bora Bora… something exotic and luxurious!

Most memorable time in FROCK
I think it will be when we go to print, and then get the final copy from the printers – but otherwise I have enjoyed going into this project not knowing anyone and coming out with many friends, contacts and skills!

One thing you wish you knew before you started in FROCK?
That you can’t make someone believe in something unless they feel it too! And Indesign.

Where to go after FROCK?
I would love to work in a magazine… FROCK has made me realise my potential and also helped me to discover some areas that need improving. I plan to graduate then travel the world and hopefully stumble across a fashion magazine job somewhere out there!
