Q: What are you going to do after you graduate?
A: I’m going to go overseas, just for a few months and then decide whether or not to continue on it… or whether to get a job. [Where are you going?] Oh, we’re going to New York on the study tour and then around Europe.
Q: What’s your collection about?
A: My collection is looking at three key constructs, being gender studies and more specifically women, looking at traditional crafts and then looking at the mirror; so looking at self reflection and basically I’m using a lot of patch-working and traditional craft techniques and trying to bring them in into contemporary garments to create a range that’s empowering for women.
Q: Any advice for future designers?
A: I think you’ve got to have your wits about and I don’t think you can be precious.
