Jo Turner’s fashion label can be described quite simply as ‘sophisticated grunge’. Her eclectic label, ‘Frank,’ embraces a playful mix of street culture and sophisticated elegance. Jo’s main inspiration draws from the hustle and bustle of the city streets. She strongly believes style is a very personal thing, and she says it expands and develops throughout your entire life. Jo uses her present experiences and influences to inspire her designs.

Her design process doesn’t follow a set approach; however, experimentation has played an integral part with this method. Jo begins by using shapes, and experiments with how they look on the body. Quite often, what she originally anticipates turns into a completely different garment. For instance, it is not unusual for a giant pair of pants to become an extravagant dress. While Jo has always enjoyed the design process, her favourite aspect is developing new ideas and problem solving. In the future Jo would like to design for a label that promotes fair trade and environmentally sustainable fashion.
