The Ksubi crew, including one of the main men behind the popular jeans and street wear company, Dan Single, has become known at night time as ‘Dangerous Dan’ of Bang Gang Deejays while his female partner Pip Edwards has recently jumped behind the decks to become part of the ten-member collective Chicks on Deck. Jewellry design Elke Kramer is also part of the spinning posse who recently performed to Mister Giorgio Armani himself, complete with entourage of heavy-built Italian bodyguard at a Sydney club.
The blend of beats and threads has brought around a revolutionary idea of combining Ksubi sales with club appearances around the country. Ksubi Presents Sex and Fashion was born, a nationwide tour of the annual clearance sale followed by a nightclub appearance where punters got a discounted entry by showing their sale receipt. A successful idea they intend to continue for years to come.
Not only are Ksubi involved in music they are also making their mark on the art world. In 2006 a crew of Ksubites (Jeremy Scott in tow) travelled to American to show an art piece, “Sign Of The Times” - a giant hand giving the piece sign with the index and middle finger cut off. Created by the designers, the piece made a tongue-in-cheek pop statement about the current state of the world. The ‘Sign’ was shown at the Burning Man Festival in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada, U.S.A and in June 2007, the collective launched a 160-page art book and DVD, also titled ‘Sign of the Times’.
